Seabrook hosted the 2018 Gala Day event on Monday. Gala Day includes the Silver Spoon play-off for club winners and ten coastal clubs were represented in the field of 42. The course was in excellent condition but, despite the pleasant conditions, played long as indicated by the scores returned.
Penguin’s Lyn White had the best nett score of the day after opening with a great shot on the par 3 first that ran out of steam just short of the hole. White took out division 2 and the Veteran’s event with Seabrook’s Helen Daly finishing as runner-up in both events. Jane Donohue won the division 1 nett from fellow Devonport player Lu Proud while Seabrook’s Yvonne Laurence won division 3 on count-back from Ulverstone’s Pat Deegan.
A surprised Laurence took out the Silver Spoon event and Jackie Poke (Smithton) won the best gross on count-back from Lu Proud.
